xxx Dont need a phone now, the onece we have are still maintained and fare away from to slow for GOS. I'm only thinking loud about a future phone. But can imagine as well having only a dumb phone in future, who knows?

GrapheneOS works brilliantly on Pixel 7a. I actually prefer it to my other 9a.

As I hardly install any apps, I don’t need a flagship.
VPN, message, voip is all I need.

The Pixel 11 Pro is the only Pixel I still have. I’ve sold all the others. I really like the hardware of this device. I can wait until December, and maybe there will be some new information by then. Until then, unfortunately, I’ll have to use my iPhone.

The Google Pixel's device performance is so bad that it should have been adapted to other Qualcomm devices instead of focusing entirely on the Pixel.

Nonx What’s supposed to be bad about it? What are you doing with your Pixel running GrapheneOS that makes it not fast enough?

Nonx I agree it is disappointing and insane for a flagship device. People saying it's fine for them, which is great, but everyone should have the option to use apps that demand power.

With the problematic Pixel11 for sale now in combination with GrapheneOS, is it wise to have a 10(a) as a spare for future use? Or with the locking systems from Google in Playstore and AOSP we will see a future with a GrapheneOS only running on highend Motorola devices?

I‘m just waiting now with my Pixel 11Pro ….. mte will come in december. Let‘s see what happens then. :)

I was really hoping the Pixel 11 would work with its new Titan M3 chip. I'm looking forward to learning more about the new Motorola phone, hopefully it's as secure.

Pixel 11 series can likely be supported once it ships MTE support but it's not guaranteed. Pixel 11a would be the next budget device if the Pixel 11 series has MTE support added to it in Android 17 QPR2 (or later) as hoped.

ParanoidDroid67 Depends upon your wallet, your use, and your "big picture". E.G. I'm replacing my constantly used, aging Qubes laptop with a P10PF, folding keyboard and mouse.

I'm inclined to get a "backup" Folding Motorola/phone/laptop after 6 months in case my P10PF gets lost/stolen/broken/hacked/etc. Likely the Motorola will become the new primary.

newbie24689 I don't have a set plan. The Pixel10a with gOS is recent. Even if I would buy another one as a spare, I don't know what the future brings. Google could completely neuter AOSP. Even with their plans and actions now in not supplying updates in timely fashion. Which threatens all alternative OS's.

phone-company How about the fact that the latest Pixel can't run even GOS to begin with? People will defend Tensor chips to the death no matter how much it lags behind. Heat issues, performance issues, battery issues and now MTE is gone. Google is blessed to have such a forgiving userbase

NoteTaker MTE is still there. Pixel 10Pro also got gOS Support in Dezember last year. so wait a little. I'm 100% sure the gOS Team will do it. :)

phone-company It is not about Graphene Team. It is google to make v.11 to meet GOS requirements! And that I would not take for granted whether you like it or not. Graphene Team were quite clear that without MTE working that phone goes nowhere near GOS.

Also we have now Iphone 17 and Apple M5 with memory tagging (MIE), so I don't think that Google won't be implementing MTE anymore.

Google will likely end up heavily using MTE in the future. Pixel 11 devices won't be able to benefit from it. They're at the start of 7 years of updates but they won't be getting the benefit of future updates enabling MTE. Pixel 8 and later will benefit from Google likely expanding use of MTE for AAPM and eventually beginning to use it by default. It's unlikely Google will stop working on expanding MTE due to the Pixel 11 hardware decision. Multiple other OEMs are interested in MTE for devices made for businesses and governments even if Google decided it wasn't worth the cost for Pixels.
