None of the immediate steps work unfortunately, so far I have tried the following:
normal boot (crashes to recovery),
safe mode (crashes to recovery),
sideload (no notable effect)
I will now shutdown the device for a day or so and return with any updates. (hopefully this works)
For now based on what I've seen it appears the crash is happening after boot somewhere in userspace as it is unlikely the phone reaches lock screen before crashing into recovery. My only guess as to what it could be is an application launching on boot causing the crash, however since I am simply not familiar with the inner workings of Android, this will likely need someone with more skills and experience than I (it also doesn't help I can't view logcat - but thats what you ask for and get from a security focused OS)
