Need help with push notificaions --> Pixel 7+Google Pay services/Framework

Hello Community,

I am brand new to graphene OS, after being stuck in Apple ecosystem for years. I still use Macbook pro and iPad, but i am trying to move away from iPhone.
My current predicament is with the non-functional push notification when it comes to Whatsapp. Even the push notifications for Signal app seems to be not working properly. I have not noticed this issue with SMS/Phone calls.
To be more specific, the issue only manifests when phone is in idle state; that is the device is locked with always display on. If i wake up my device, without unlocking, i do receive the notification. Could it be because the necessary component for push notification is not working in backgroung?

Following setting are enabled:
Google Play Service:
Notifications --> On
SMS --> On
Battery Usage --> unrestricted.
Google Service Framework:
Notification --> On(default)
Permissions --> None
Battery Usage --> Unrestricted
Whatsapp:
Notifications -- > On
Network --> On
Battery Usage --> Unrestricted.
Signal:
Notifications -- > On
Network --> On
Battery Usage --> Unrestricted.

If i cannot get the push notifications to work, at least for whatsapp, i am afraid i will have to revert back to stock android. Whatsapp is my only gateway to stay connected with my old parents and siblings.

Please advise.

Did you install Play Services before Whatsapp?

cascaderainfall I also read in another thread that google play service requires network access, which was turned off in my setting. So i am going to give that a try as well.

tastazardo I have already tried, but unfortunately all friends and family are heavily invested in Whatsap. Especially my parents, they have a hard time managing multiple apps.

But as cascaderainfall recommended, i have reinstalled all the apps that i need the notification to work for, along with network access to google play service.

Yes. I have tried reinstalling whatsapps multiple times without much success.

I can give it a try again.

You may choose to get your close, frequent contacts to download and use Signal, which is more secure.

If you don't use google play, install whatsapp from aurora. Don't mess around with it afterwards. If you do use google play, install it and don't mess around with it. You understand? Too many tinkerers around here. I want to fix my own stuff, ya hear?
