This bug also exists in the Pixel OS for both Android 16 QPR3 and Android 17 too but it bypasses it through being bloated enough to always trigger a fallback path.

Just updated and RCS is still not working for me (sad emoji). Pixel 9 pro, Verizon

First try disable ICC and re-enable it.

If no luck then try the DSDS toggle:

Dial this number: ##4636##
Under phone information > enable DSDS
If it is already on then toggling it off, waiting a few seconds, and putting it back on then rebooting the phone.

DsB Make sure you've granted the Phone permission to both Play services and Google Messages along with enabling ICC authentication for Play services in the sandboxed Google Play settings at Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google Play.

DsB If other suggestions don't work, maybe turn the phone off for an hour in case you were rate-limited.

The update did not fix RCS for me ( Pixel 9 Pro, Verizon).

All the correct permissions are enabled, and it even says RCS is connected. However, I am still only able to send / receive standard SMS. It does not give me the option to send RCS.

I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling the app too, but doesn't fix it. When reinstalled, it reconnects immediately to RCS but doesn't actually allow me to message with it.

I powered off my phone for 5 minutes, turned it back on and suddenly I received a mass of RCS messages. It works now.

I'm stupid and didn't think that would make a difference, as I had already rebooted multiple times.

RockHyrax I did not originally. I turned it on while trying to get it to work, and haven't tried turning it back off yet. I did several reboots and a reinstall of the messaging app after turning it on, and that alone did not make a difference.
