I purchased a new 9a and immediately switched it to Graphene OS without logging into any google accounts previously associated with my phone number and Whats App account.
Afterward, I created a new google account with an associated pseudonymous gmail address so that I could best navigate/utilize the google apps I have downloaded and sandboxed).
A few days ago, I downloaded Whats App from the google play store and signed in with my phone number, not the old google account(s) that the Whats App account has likely been associated with from past use (that I do not use anymore or are deleted).
Whats App then swiftly (within minutes) said my account was suspended pending review for violating their terms of service. (I neglected to take screenshots and I have been unable to recreate that response since). Later, I opened the app and it gave me the same error message as the title of this thread. I then deleted the app version from the google play store, download the app straight from the website as directed, and opened the new version of the app. I logged in with my phone number again, and immediately got the same error message, the title to this thread with the instructions to download straight from their website.
Hopefully that gives you/anyone some more context. Additionally, I think my next move is to somehow delete my Whats App account and make a new one associated with my phone number and this new limited use google account. But that may be not enough. It may just be Whats App giving us a hard time, which would be mean and also unsurprising.
