Add AM/PM to clock

If you want to disable 24-hour time, it's Settings -> System -> Date & time -> Use 24-hour format.

NoahRaketic I don't think they're having a problem with military time. I think the clock says, for example, '9:52' and they would like it to say '9:52PM'. I don't think your proposal solves it.

Is this an issue you want changed on the lock screen, home screen, or the time bug at the top of the screen? I don't actually know of there is a solution, other than perhaps switching launchers.

Hi there!
GOS and AOSP never had a toggle to display time in PM/AM.

US is one of the few countries (if not the only one) using this system, the whole world is currently on 12 or 24 hour format, as well as all of the time syncing servers.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by military time. You might have used some Clock app/plugin that allowed you to display it in am/pm.

I am under the impression that OP thinks any clock that doesn't have AM or PM is military time.

I understand your complaint as I experience the same thing as well. The clock app does show AM & PM but on the lock screen it does not which is understandably a problem. For anyone who says changing date & time in settings from 24h to 12H understand that this does not display AM/PM on the lock screen like it's suppose to.

I find it annoying & sad that we need to constantly tell every euro developer in almost every app because they seem not to care about US time's format that hey your making an app for the world please take the time to check it's working properly for every timezone's format. This was never an issue 10 years ago but new devs new gens they seem to not care about respecting the us format & just push apps & updates out without doing proper checks.

So I would appreciate if the GOS Team got on this asap & made the AM/PM appear on the lockscreen next to the time like it's suppose to as it does on the android stock os.

You mean Pixel? GrapheneOS is based on AOSP there's a difference.

No I don't mean pixel. Now talking about this I noticed some of my aosp devices do have it & now some don't. Jsyk none of them are pixel stock I wonder if google did something in an android update that caused it to disappear. I notice in some on the top left corner pm isn't next to the time anymore either.

If it was removed in an update this is why I dislike those rely on upbranch to patch it then bring it downwards type of deals. Maybe someone might know more info on whats going on here because it never didn't have it before. I will do some research see if I can find anything & get back to this hopefully more can be discovered to whats going on with this.

One issue is that Google changes the lock-screen code pretty often. The GrapheneOS project doesn't often invest in cosmetic changes, especially ones that are likely to cause merge failures later.

de0u I don't consider correct time format display a cosmetic that's a core functionality to be able to tell time right according to the format of the region you are set to. I get what you are saying though they don't invest into checking things are correct & fixing them. I can only hope that there will be a fix instead of having to try to find another app or for this specific issue just having to open the clock app to read the time correctly.

MagnusPrime you realize you could understand AM/PM just by looking outside the window, right? I'd also like to remind you that 99% of the wristwatches we're all wearing for centuries have no such indicator. If it was meaningfully useful, they'd have one.

In any case, your complaints here won't change anything, the GrapheneOS team have way more important work to do and if you want to bug someone please go to the AOSP devs.

I don't really like the lockscreen clock behavior myself, but Google really does change the lockscreen code frequently, which probably would lead to merge failures.

I don't speak for the GrapheneOS project, but I suspect they are more likely to spend developer time on things like VPN leaks, Android 17 glitches with Bluetooth and Android Auto, etc., than on lockscreen time formats. On the other hand, since it seems that the developers are all over the world, maybe somebody will look into it this week.

I got back from a trip and woke up after a flight around 7pm and thought it was 7am, so I scrambled thinking I was late for a meeting. Even outside it looked like morning! This is especially important for ppl that travel across timezones like journalists and frequent flyers.

Also please allow option to put on top left of screen.
