My screen is stuck on Fastboot Mode. Device state is "unlocked".

a) Months ago, when I tried this, it started very smoothly. I was able to unlock the bootlooder, select my phone when you get the popup "grapheneos.org wants to connect". I started the "Download Release" under 'Obtaining Factory Images without problem. Then partway during the flashing process, I got the message "Error: The requested file could not be read, typically due to permission problems that have occurred after a reference to a file was acquired." Here I got stuck. When I tried to start from the beginning of the process it said the phone was already unlocked and then this time I would get 'error undefined' when I tried to obtain factory images.

b) Kept my phone connected to the computer for a few hours or days (can't remember at this point) and then the internet got disconnected at one point, and after that, my phone wouldn't show up to pick. I found online sometimes people said the cable is the issue, so I've tried 5 or 6 different ones. Now I can't get my phone to even show up at all to choose to connect to (even going back to the original cable I had part success with).

c) I've tried on Windows 10 with Google Chrome, Windows 11 with Microsoft Edge, and a really old Mac. My phone no longer shows up. I keep getting the message "No compatible devices found." My phone is still unlocked in Fastboot mode.
(I will add I can't get the phone to show up as connected at all on my computer anymore)

I feel really foolish for trying this and have gone months without a phone now. Someone please help!

superstuck00 It won't let me edit again so I'll add this here: When I plug my phone into my computer (Windows 11), I don't get a pop up on my screen at all about it and it doesn't show up as being connected. The only way I can see it is to go into the control panel and go to devices. It'll show the pixel is connected and says "Driver unavailable". The only option it gives me is to disconnect.

superstuck00 Mate, don't get me wrong but it's about time to get yourself a new phone. Being without one for so long, I would be in a straightjacket. Wow! Kudos to devs, they fixed the problem with prediction at the end of the sentence.

[deleted] I spent hundreds on this one and couldn't return it either due to it being stuck on this screen. Can't really spend another couple hundred so this is my only option. I don't know if there is a way to get back to the beginning of the process or what if that might work, but I don't know how to do that! I know the phone isn't bricked, I just don't know what to do from here.

Old post, but to those it may apply to: Try a live linux USB and see if you can get anything on there. Linux is typically less fussy about showing you data. Details on how to do this later, if anyone cares.

cltqbfk359 Whichever OS you use, the web installer is relatively easy to use. But for the best experience I would suggest running the web installer in GrapheneOS, stock Android, or MacOS. Those all work out of the box. Windows and GNU/Linux OSes all require prior configuration.
