Unresponsive and down right bipolar unlock buttom

I'm a noob,
Recently got grapheneos on my new pixel 7. Everything is working great, however sometimes when I lock my phone the unlock button no longer works; as in, pressing it doesn't bring up the number pad to insert my pin. When it happens I have no choice but to restart the phone, then everything works fine again. Is this a known problem? This just me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Nooblet I don't know why your power button is being unresponsive.

But if it is, couldn't use just 'tap to check phone' to bring up the lock screen. You can enable that under Settings > System > Gestures. That way you wouldn't need to reboot.

The one that comes up on lockscreen upon wakeup when you use PIN, otherwise is replaced by fingerprint button depending on what you use to unlock

As @treequell suggested, try just dragging your finger upwards on the screen, without touching the part of the screen over the fingerprint sensor.

Rather than pressing the unlock button, you can just swipe up to show the numberpad.

intelligence it happened again.. I tried swiping up but to no avail. The screen does prompt the number pad but the instead of showing the numbers its a blank black screen, all I can do is either press the back button (bottom left for me) or lock the phone. Only way to fix this is to restart the phone.. Could this be a graphene issue?

Yes sorry "unlock button" was a little ambiguous, I did mean the button that shows up on screen to bring up the number pad. It hasn't happened in a while, But I'll definitely try your suggestions if it happens again. Thank you all.

I have a suspicion that problem occurs more often when I try to unlock the phone by first clicking an app's notification (like facebook messenger, telegram, youtube, email.. Etc) could this be a thing? Pretty clueless tbh.

Nooblet mate, you are not meant to swipe on it.but press and hold to activate

Nooblet nvm I see I can backup my phone and trload after reinstalling

Nooblet If it was corrupted, it wouldn't boot. Reinstalling will accomplish precisely NOTHING.

i am running into the same issue as of last night, keypad/fingerprint button stopped functioning and i was locked out my phone until i rebooted
