What is the GrapheneOS Speech services? Either I'm blind or it's new, because I'm 99% sure it wasn't there before

Wow! This is so much better than RH Voice!!! I'm fine with the current voice, but wonder if more will get added?

Yeah they will as well as create their own US English model.

So now it's here, it seems.

Installed it, even though I've never been a heavy user of TTS. It's official, and version 1 is Stable, so let's give it a whirl.

However, CoMaps seems to refuse using it. Can't activate navigation speech, even though the new TTS service is properly set up in system settings – just like CoMaps instructs me to do.

Strange. 🤔

0xC0DED0D0 BTW, I can't even use the test function in system settings. "Play"-button is greyed out.

Also, language is set to "System default". When I try to switch to "English (US)" – the only other option available – I'm thrown out of system settings entirely.

Seemingly some form of crash, though no error message. Can't find anything relevant in the system logs.

Did a reboot also, but the issues with CoMaps and system settings are still the same.

It was a bit weird for me at the start.

speech > text-to-speech output > GOS speech
Now, preferred engine > GOS speech again (nothing is selected in this menu)
Play button is greyed out, go back 1 menu then back in. play button works.

GOS speech sounds nice. My ex said my maps lady sounded creepy.
