Stuck at different OS warning screen after installation

pixel99a I'm assuming the screen broke because it was dropped or something like that. Something about the damage or the replacement must be causing it to get stuck somehow, but I can't imagine what that would be. You mean even holding the button for a long time doesn't power off the phone?

other8026 yes the phone was dropped, and even holding the power button for a long time won't shut it down.

pixel99a how do you know when you can't shut the phone down by holding it down? That is a hardware feature that works 100% of the time and can only be explained away by a broken power button. Or you not pressing long enough.

I am pressing long enough (+1mn) the phone won't shut down unless I boot into fastboot and shut it down from there.

This screen is part of the normal booting process when a non-Google OS is installed. If the boot key fingerprint is correct (source) then that screen is not an indication of trouble.

If that screen shows up when it shouldn't, such as in a loop or when you try to enter Recovery, the system is crashing. One possibility is the the battery is too low to boot the OS. To address that, on the yellow-icon third-party OS boot screen, when it says to tap the power button to pause booting, tap the power button to pause booting and charge the device for at least 30 minutes.

If tapping the power button does not pause booting then perhaps the power button is broken.

If the device was recently dropped and the system crashes during boot perhaps some part of the device was broken in addition to the screen.

pixel99a If the power button is working well enough to pause/unpause booting, and the device has been charged for an hour, and both booting into the OS and booting into Recovery immediately crash, I'm afraid the device is broken.

From the other side of the Internet it's hard to guess what might be going wrong. A repair shop might or might not be able to diagnose something that could be fixed.

I tried putting on the old broken screen and the computer is recognizing the phone now, it seems like the phone is getting through that loop!

This is how I solved it:
I powered off the phone and installed the old broken screen on it. After powering it on with the broken one, I waited for it to completely boot up. Then, I removed the broken screen and installed the new one while the phone was still on. Now it seems to work just fine but I have to keep it on, or it will revert to the same issue upon rebooting. I believe the root of the problem is the new screen, which lacks a fingerprint scanner; it's a cheap LCD model. I asked a technician and he said that some phones require the screen to come with a fingerprint scanner to boot up.
