  • Can default SMS/MMS app manage dual SIM ?

Hello,

Until now I was using Signal to manage my SMS/MMS but they recently announced that they will stop support this, so I just switched back to the default app.
I'm using dual SIM so when sending a SMS I was expecting the app to prompt me which SIM I want to use (like the phone app does) but no, it just says that no preferred SIM is defined and doesn't send. So I must globally define a preferred SIM so the app use it, but this solution is not satisfying because the SIM I want to use depends on who I'm writing to, it can't be globally set.

Is this a bug, or a feature this app just can't manage dual SIM ?

It seems it's a flaw or the default SMS/MMS application, it doesn't support the "Always ask" option as preferred SIM for SMS set globally in the phone settings.
However, when you globally set a preferred SIM for SMS, you can still long press the send button and change it, and the application will remember this choice for the conversation. Not very intuitive but that's enough for me (and wasn't probably not GrapheneOS related).
