guser39 I do not see any documentation to indicate that recieving text messages while in Airplane Mode is expected.
You cannot find any, because airplane mode should shut down your comms by design .
It's the second action you took (manually powering on wifi ) that allowed data to be received.
You can see it as being in a bunker and deciding to open front door, exposing yourself to the outside.
guser39 When I make calls, I use the Phone app and when texting I use the Messaging app so I expected any relevant settings to be visible in a similar segmented fashion, not grouped or shared under the Phone and calls settings.
Those apps are merely "front-ends" for the data they manage, nobody is preventing a developer to create a single app to manage both calls and SMSs.
SMS, MMS and phone calls are often grouped together because they usually share the same network/medium to be sent/received.
I agree that the name VoWiFi might be misleading, tho.
