How to delete GOS pre installed apps

I would require opening up the standard model for how android works on the production release branches. This isn't Ressurrection Remix OS, but the most hardened of them all.

I'm actually not familiar with exactly which changes the developers would need to make. Obviously it's possible somehow, but I'm curious as to what the exact steps would be. I suspect the build process would need to be changed to include the APKs in some sort of staging area in the system image, and then something (the profile setup program?) would need to install them once. Is that right?

If some black swan event happens to the browser so that it goes down, and a critical update was rushed out to mitigate that, and it comes with some instructions of how to deal with say, an attack of some sort. The Info app could be a robust channel for this.
This was just me giving around eight seconds of thought into it. I suspect there could be other such use cases for Info app.

I am with GrapheneOS for two reasons.

Mitigate big tech out of my life as much as possible
I detest T9 predictive texting on dumb phones, so a phone that I can use a grown up keyboard on is what I need.
GrapheneOS on a Pixel fulfills what I need. The fact that GrapheneOS is probably the best secure/privacy OS on the planet, is a happy coinsidence.

if a black swan event happened, I could turn off my phone, I know the Earth won't stop rotating, I do it quite often...
I could then type in HTTPS://discuss.grapheneos.org in my Tails laptop and wait until a GrapheneOS update showed up.
no Info App required. That was my eight seconds.
Like I have already stated, its not essential to the running of GrapheneOS, its an addition, that the Developers, installed and made non removable for whatever reason. Its their OS its their rules after all.

The info app is not an AOSP thing, its a GrapheneOS thing.
Its not nescessary to have it installed for GrapheneOS to function. Which is why, I dont understand that its not optional.

You can't uninstall apps that come with the system, they're part of the system. You say "not the same thing", but for all intents and purposes, it is the same thing. What's the actual difference, the size of the apps? With devices that start at 128GB, that is not a valid argument when this app takes an infinitesimal fraction of that.

It serves people with an easy way to see what's the latest at a glance, find links to all of our community channels conveniently in case they need support, as well as a handy way to support the project.

The app's functionality will likely expand in the future to do a lot more to not only improve the experience of people who are new to the OS, but also to existing users e.g. by introducing new features when they're added.

I agree, calculator, camera, clock, contacts, files, gallery, messaging, settings, telephone and browser they are all part of ASOP system apps baked in and delete them at your peril...
GrapheneOS chose to add the Info App, a huge "Marmite" moment if ever there was one, but its their OS, their rules, I just disable it and wish it were removable.

GrapheneOS We previously had nearly zero information about GrapheneOS included in it, not even links to our site. iOS has tons of information about Apple and iOS included, and it has a large number of apps and services included. Including a tiny app providing info about GrapheneOS is hardly a form of bloat.

Many GrapheneOS users are not aware of the forum, chat rooms, release notes, donation options, or the other information we provided on the site. Including this information in the OS will help many GrapheneOS users along with benefiting the project through more contributors, more donations and more awareness of what's going on.

The Info App that points you to a web site for convenience is not an essential app to keep GrapheneOS operating.
It was placed their by the Developers, not because it was essential/critical to the OS, a vanity project? who knows..

Anyway I hate it, you like it. Thats humans for you, the same, but very different between the ears.
