AE16
If you're able to self-host an owntracks server:
https://owntracks.org/
In app photos are available by clicking the "owntracks for iOS" or "Android"--iOS is more polished.
I would use it in MQTT mode--it's good enough for facebook's production apps--and enable TLS with a certificate you have or created.
Test it on your own before setting it up for your friend--wife-approval regulations apply.
What I remember about it is:
- On Android your "name" will have to be 2 characters and no photos. iOS, you can have a longer name and a photo.
- It doesn't have the intelligence to not check for location as often when you aren't moving.
AE16 Do i need to create my server or i just can use the app and see it from the web?
create your own server or use FMD-foss' public instance, just create an account.
I haven't used this; but, to me, it looked like you had to open a web browser and log in to see locations--you can't see location in the app.
