88dotorg If the partnership with Lenovo and sales of the device are successful, developing a secure laptop will be the next step!
How is a Laptop the Next step? Especially with how security is on Laptop/Desktops I doubt that is the step and it isn't even a responsibility of GrapheneOS to do as the projects is solely focused on their mission:
The private and secure mobile operating system with Android app compatibility. Developed as a non-profit open source project.
Which says nothing about the Desktop ecosystem. So someone else can take up the task if they want to. But in the mean time if you want a Secure(note I don't mean entirely private) laptop your best bet is a Macbook, Or a Laptop running the Original Windows OS.
As for Next steps after the launch of this new GOS compatible phone, I think it would just be improving the Security and Privacy even more and hopefully working with Motorola to make mid tier devices that can actually support GOS(which none of the current low/mid tier ones can support GOS right now, and even if they can be made to in the future they'll likely be more expensive than the insecure non-GOS ones). As well as getting more devs to help on the project.
But ultimately It's just important to follow the project roadmap and Move away from Memory Unsafe languages as well as Android itself towards a microkernel.
this is just my view and understanding, I do not speak for GOS and don't work on it.
