Can someone help me with backing up my phone.

So this is what my phone will show like once a week i think a backup is setup and it's saving to my phone but i went into files and i can't find a backup file or anything. But what do i do in general with graphenOS? how do i do backups so i can save everything if i ever wanted to wipe my phone then reinstall stuff? Thanks

You can find it in Files > Menu > Your Phone Model (Pixel 6a, 9 Pro, etc.) > Three Lines in upper right corner > Show Hidden Files You should have a folder labeled .SeedVaultAndroidBackup. The backups are in there. If you backed up to a USB stick, you'll have to have it plugged in to view this.

Don't rely on Seedvault. It always has bugs and isn't a reliable backup restore tool. Do manual backups of photos, files, important stuff.

nandohyphen1 Thank you so much i found the .seedvault folder following your instructions inside the folder is a ton of other files tho from 00 to like 100 . no i'm not using a usb stick. i need to get one tho. but so how do i restore this backup i have looked in settings and i don't see a restore options only a reset option.

Settings > System > Backup > Three lines in upper right corner > Restore Backup if you are in the profile that was backed up you'll notice its greyed out. This is because you can't restore the backup to a backed up profile (another reason its a good idea to get a USB stick so you can actually test this in another profile). If you had a USB stick that it was backed up to, you could go to Settings in a new profile and go to Restore Backup and it should restore from the stick. A good way to test if backup is actually working too.

nandohyphen1 Ok great i think i got it now. i just need to back this up to my usb stick then i can simply put in the usb drive and hit the restore and restore the phone if incase i ever need to wipe it.. Thanks

AngWay your welcome. Yes thats what I'd do. Test restoring to another profile just to be safe and know it works. And know Seedvault isn't the most reliable. If you have extra important files and photos that you can't afford to lose at all, then back them up separately so that you know you have them. Always better to be safe than sorry. :)

nandohyphen1 Ok yeah thats what i'v been doing i use proton drive and when it gets full i just transfer all the photos over to a external ssd that i have encrypted with veracrypt. also something weird is happening i am getting this random popup where my browser pops up saying i have a virus almost like it's spam or malware it's weird i don't think i'v downloaded something with a virus in it.

AngWay the green check mark means the app was backed up. A yellow triangle means the app reported no data for backup, so it wasn't backed up. A red circle also means it wasn't backed up, sometimes it says it wasn't backed up because it wasn't used in a while. It it could be for any other reason. Like I said - Seedvault isn't that reliable. Don't expect it to work perfect. ;)

I'm not sure what all that is. Its never done that for me. When you get a USB stick restart all new with a fresh backup and see how that goes
