Cobaul My mail app (Proton) is not retrieving new mail unless I open the app. I have already granted network permissions and given unrestricted battery access. It works beautifully on other devices with other OSs, but has not worked properly since upgrading to Graphene on my current device.
userofgos Cobaul Unfortunately Proton Mail strictly relies on Google Play Services (GPS) for notification delivery. You need to have GPS installed before Proton Mail is installed in order for it to fiction properly. See here: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/1253-protonmail-notifications/3 And this recent thread here: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/31730-proton-mail-notifications
W1zardK1ng Cobaul Proton mail apps works fine for me, no issues with notifications. Do you have any vpn/private dns enabled in that profile? if so test it without the vpn/private dns and check if the notifications are working fine.
DeletedUser699 Cobaul i have informed their support. You should write them asap as well, to make them move their asses faster to solve this.
DeletedUser699 Same problem here. Well, at least this is now not MY problem... https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/31730-proton-mail-notifications/
Cobaul DeletedUser699 I have also done this. If anyone else reading this is having this same issue, please also report to Proton support. They should know about this as it goes against their stated privacy values.
DeletedUser699 BTW, i have tied 5 last versions of app, same result with each. Try the unvpned connection or that dns as someone suggested. I'm already tired fucking around with this shit
W1zardK1ng Cobaul You need to narrow down to the exact reason causing this issue, in my experience most of the time this behavior was due to vpn/private dns i used to have the same issue with signal, i Switched to WG Tunnel instead of using the official vpn app. you may try something similar if you dont want to test it without a vpn.
nandohyphen1 @Cobaul ever try this app? https://f-droid.org/packages/dev.lbeernaert.youhavemail Let's you receive Proton Mail notifications - even without Google Play Services. Works awesome for me
Cobaul nandohyphen1 Looks interesting, but upon testing it's asking me to directly enter my Proton login into the notification app. I do not feel comfortable entrusting this app with my login info. I appreciate the suggestion, though.
nandohyphen1 Cobaul yes, it does require you to log into your Proton Mail account, to be able to fetch mail and send notifications. Its been very reliable and I trust it. If your not comfortable logging into Proton Mail though it through, I get it totally. :)
