Thank you to the developers and contributors for consistently excellent software. It’s a pleasure to use.
Search is a key part of browser usability. Now that Mullvad Leta has closed since November, Vanadium search has been a consistent pain point.
I’m not interested in any of the Android Chromium and thus Vanadium built-in search providers: Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yandex, or even now DuckDuckGo – which forces an AI summary at the top of nearly every search result.
The “opensearch” Android Chromium user hostile ridiculousness of coaxing the browser to recognize other search providers isn’t reasonable.
I have coaxed Vanadium to set noai.duckduckgo.com as the search provider, but searching via the unified URL bar returns standard DDG results with AI summary as the first result.
Please consider including other built-in search providers, or other solutions to allow user search engine choice. I no longer have a Github account so have made the request here. Ref Vanadium Github issues #561, #424, #717…
