Vanadium is not respecting my search engine configuration

I've noticed over the last few weeks that Vanadium is not respecting my search engine configuration. I have it set to use the NoAI DuckDuckGo domain. However, it will use the regular domain, which includes AI responses. This affects the regular and private tabs.

I have tried toggling the search engine configuration off and on for the noai option. If I manually navigation to the noai domain and search it works. But, if I use the search bar it defaults to the regular DDG domain.

I believe that I'm using the latest release. It updated yesterday, I think.

Clearing data and cache for Vanadium does not resolve the problem.

navigate to noai.duckduckgo.com
search a few times (it took close to a dozen or so searches)
open settings > search engine
select DuckDuckGo (noai.duckduckgo.com) from the recent list

I am not sure how many searches it takes to show up in the Search Engine settings page. I think last time, it only took several searches for Vanadium to detect the alternative search engine. This time, it took quite a few before it showed up.

I can't even get noai.duckduckgo.com to even show up in the first place, no matter how many times I search something up with it.

This is really unfortunate, because Vanadium otherwise works very well for me, it is my browser of choice, but I absolutely loathe having to choose between almost strictly using incognito mode (I know the benefits and drawbacks of this, don't tell me I'm using it wrong, it's what works for me) and avoiding the garbage that is AI-generated summaries in my search results.

I don't know what the solution is here, but I do know I am growing increasingly frustrated with the state of the ability to choose (or lack thereof) a search engine in Vanadium beyond the defaults. Maybe the list of search engines Vanadium supports by default needs to be expanded. I know that's more work on those working on GrapheneOS/Vanadium, and I hate suggesting things that increase their already massive workload, but this is becoming a massive point of contention for me, and a stain on an otherwise fantastic browser.

EnragedBoot Startpage respects my settings, even as a default engine (it took a lot of retries for it to show up though), DDG has always returned to default settings.
Testing Noai.duckduckgo now.

Have you tried to create a 'Bookmarklet' instead of just saving settings?
Mine look like this:

EnragedBoot I agree that Vanadium needs to reconsider adding the NoAI version of DDG as an option.

Given that search engine configuration is broken I think this is the best possible fix, since it's likely an upstream bug.
