Push Notifications - What permissions does GPS need for notis to work?

Hi! I'm using GOS on a Pixel 10 Pro, and push notifications for some apps don't seem to work.

I have it Instagram installed as a PWA via Vanadium with all notifications enabled, but none arrive. I also installed GroupMe, Discord, Duo Mobile, and Grubhub after Play Services and Play Store were enabled with unrestricted battery usage and network permissions, but still no luck there either.

I did disable GPS' network permissions after setting up notifications on each app, though. Does that have to be enabled at all times for notifications to work? Are any other permissions or toggles needed to get these apps' notifications working?

Please help with this. Thank you.

Google's FCM servers send notifications to Play over the network... so cutting Play off from the network seems likely to interfere with receiving notifications.

Network permissions is a minimum requirement for Play Services to operate properly. Push notifications for most Play apps are sent over FCM via an open network connection to mtalk.google.com

gristle-cause aw man, i really didn't wanna give GPS network permissions, but ig i'll make an exception bc i do need notifications lol. thanks for the help!
