As the GOS devs have stated(fairly) they won't install by default specialized apps that may/may not be used.

Is there any interest in an app store/manager that only lists certified safe/secure non-propriatary apps.

Such as molly-foss for messaging.
X app for calvulator
Etc...

This will help the grapehene community select smarter app installations and maintain integrity.

the hope is the accrescent store will serve this purpose once it grows up. see in this forum history.
to maintain and host a store is a job for a separate team, not sure if there is manpower and funding for it

Eumenia that's not entirely accurate - not all apps on F-Droid are reproducible builds and i'm pretty sure not all are fully free software (open source)

there are other potential issues with F-Droid as well, for example see this and this

that said, i'm not aware of any malware being distributed through F-Droid (yet), however there is malware on the Play Store, and a lot of it if you also include spyware (data harvesting) as malware

Many outdated apps, many apps list anti features

What's needed is a app store that's vetted and hosts only secure updated options
