So which OEM is making GOS phones in 2026?

I heard the likely contenders are moto, oneplus and nothing.

OnePlus 15 is a great phone per MKBHD. I know someone who can bring one back for me next month from china for about $550 (Chinese ROM )versus $900 (USA ROM). And it seems like flashing ROM is feasible.

Should I pull the trigger? I think 1+ is a better phone than pixel 10 (was 499 a few days ago, the lemon color).

But I wont get one if GOS isn't gonna work on 1+

filastinhurra Don't buy the 1+. Even if that is the manufacturer they are working with, it will likely be a new phone and not compatible with old devices. I don't believe the 15 has a secure element and so there would be no chance of it supporting GOS

I don't think so! I think the project has suggested that the first device is not expected to be available until 2027, so buying a 2025 device, regardless of manufacturer, seems very unlikely to work out.

filastinhurra I'm going to optimistically say Sony, they have snapdragon which has potential, would probably be willing to have an open bootloader, and has some relatively AOSP friendly phones. Not to mention GrapheneOS stated they wanted a vendor with international availability. I'm almost positive it's between Sony, Motorola, nothing, Xiaomi/Redmi, and maybe just maybe Nokia. Fair phone is out, Samsung is likely out, iphone is definitely out.

Yes, but not "likely" - certainly.

The project has said that they have to wait for the next SOC version, because the current one has some kind of issue with MTE support.

Hardware wise the One Plus is better yes but if I were you I'd buy a cheap Pixel, put GOS on it and try to hold on until the phones come out. After a new battery my 7a is good enough (for me) until whatever partnership they have begins selling phones.

I have no reason to hate GOS devs, you are wrong on that. On the contrary, I'm grateful for the OS they created. It's my daily driver I trust with my privacy after all.

IIRC the reason for the delay was an issue with the Snapdragon 5 that had to be patched which delayed progress. This was reported a while ago.

Forgive me if I don't believe that. I've seen some of your other comments. For whatever reason you don't seem to like the dev team.
You criticize them for not lowering their hardware requirements (even though Graphene having such strict requirements is part of what makes it a secure OS).
You also criticize them for not doing everything you want even though the project has limited resources and some of the things go against what the project stand for - security and privacy.

If you have a legitimate reason, then by all means post some evidence to back it up. I'd be more than happy to read it.

The existence of the security preview releases, which includes early access to embargoed Android Security Bulletin patches only available to partner OEMs, indicates that GrapheneOS has a relationship with an OEM.

I don't criticize them. I express sadness about their refusal to lower the bar. I still treat it unwise to narrow down the OS to a very limited scope of hardware. Not everyone needs this level of security.

Although GOS did express hope it would happen in 2026.

There may be some relationship, but it doesn't prove the future existence of the said upcoming device. It may be planned as well, but I doubt GOS can guarantee its bootloader won't be locked etc. There are too many unknowns.
