Interface lags after Android 15 to 16 update

I have disabled animations to reduce general "lag", and interface was comfortably fast enough in Android 15.

After the update to 16, things like typing the passcode in, often typing on keyboard, generally moving around feel less responsive. Like there is a slight to medium lag on everything.

Is there any way to fix it?

Animation was disabled there, but not the blur effects, which is now off :)

And it was a standard thing that the moment I ask about it, the lag got into tolerable levels XD

The interface does feel "slower" to me, too. It has lost it snappiness. If I e.g. click on the internet quick toggle, I want it to open instantly not lag behind for a sec. Everything feels so unbearably slow... fortunately it is only when interacting with the Android UI and not with general apps.

Would love for there to be a toggle to turn-off animations, rather than just reduce them.

Novalissoide what you might think is snappy, isn't for everyone else.
For example, did you enable reduced animations in accessibility?

I just find the Android UI to be slow, trust me I know what I am talking about. It is just the way it is rendered, perhaps

Try this out yourself: Open settings, click on Modes. Notice how the "Do Not Disturb" and the "Sleeping" modes get rendered later than the rest? Stuff like this is what I am talking about. Not GrapheneOS's fault I believe.

These small hiccups add up. It's just how android is for now.

I am guessing some parts of the UI are rendered dynamically, like the Internet pop-up upon when clicking the quick-toggle and the Modes portion of the Settings app. That slows down the rendering I suppose.

No. It just didn't.
Reduced animations.
No lag at all in SystemUI or settings. Must be your setup.

No accessibility feature except for reduced animations and reduce blur.

DeletedUser591 tried the Modes part, and really went through every settings page, with and without private space. Not even with media-heavy apps running split screen with the Settings did the Modes lag even a bit. With or without Power saver. This was on Pixel6a
So no, it must be your setup.

DeletedUser591 The video was necessary, I had to save that clip and replay it to even register the fenomena.. I can't say for sure that this 'lag' never happens in my device, but I also can't believe how anyone could get bothered by it. It's barely at all noticeable, still snappy.
