My tablet just did a system update to build number 2025121201 and I now have a blank launcher screen. All my apps are still in the tray however.

I checked my other profiles and only one out of 4 has any icons on the launcher screen - this profile still has the original icons at the foot of the screen which I habitually remove from most profiles.

My 9a is currently downloading the update so I will see what occurs.

NFC to connect to bluetooth speakers is not working as expected after this update. It connects but doesn't play audio. This is on the owner profile, it stopped working in secondary profiles a few updates ago. Now have to manually select Bluetooth connection. Not a major issue just QoL

Hi, all ok so far except I now have an empty home section as well as the one I had with my widgets on. This empty section is now the default when my phone boots, but not sure why it exists when there are no apps or widgets on it.

Updated P9PXL & tablet. Can confirm an "additional" empty home screen on P9PXL with my original moved to second (swipe right to see). Tablet screen did not change after update.

No crashes as of yet. VPN, WiFi work as expected. Notifications seem to be back to pre QPR style.

After moving my home screen items to the new default screen, I compared my two device home screens (each acting differently after the upgrade).

Both devices have the same calendar widget and similar app shortcuts. The only difference I could find is the device that had a new empty home screen after the upgrade had a full home screen prior to the upgrade - as in all slots were filled with a widget or app icon. I wonder if the upgrade uses a slot temporarily causing the intermittent result on devices with no empty slots.

cloudcoroner I also have new blank default home screen. My original default home screen had widgets and app shortcuts, but DID have a few open spots left.

If you swipe up to reveal running apps, do you see an additional small round icon on the right? I have this and when pressed, another app, Desktop Mode is revealed. I cannot close this app.

(My 9a is completely normal and doesn't look any different since before the update)

Looks like it's first time ever that I've got a system app crash right after this update. When turning on QR code scanner it threw a crash of android.cameraprovider. This also happened while another app tried to access camera. After 2 attemts I've gotten a message saying something akin to "OS or hardware failure, try to reboot" when trying to turn on QR code scanner. Rebooting fixed this, but I regret that I did not save the crash logs of android.cameraprovider.

Another bug I've noticed while trying to find this cameraprovider process is while searching for app names in settings when I click on some system apps (e.g. CameraExtensionProxy) it does not display the app info screen and makes all other app icons unclickable until I back off from the search.

P9P XL here just updated to the latest firmware. I can confirm NO additional sceeens. No changes to home screen . I have 3 profiles no changes

biscuit_tosser_88 FYI, in case you haven't tried yet, I just moved my six icons and two widgets (from the original gone screen) to the empty screen. The newly empty #2 home screen then disappeared, as it should, and everything is back to normal.

Novalissoide That's right, it is still my daily driver so no experimental stuff. The app search bug seems to have magically fixed itself by now so everything works again. Looking up that camera provider thing it looks like it's a HAL process/API. I guess getting the logs from it is now impossible since I can't replicate the crash anymore.

chooser8741 Strongly recommend that anyone with a Pixel 7a does not update yet. There's a known AOSP issue causing severe WiFi speed reductions (those affected report being limited to 10-20 Mbps), which is present in this build. QPR2 has not been pushed to Pixel 7a devices by Google yet, most likely for this reason. The bug can be found here on the Google issue tracker.

Does anyone have anymore info on this? I see that p7a has not been updated on stable (yet?)

One issue I had been having since last night's update is that Apple Music is crashing. I used the app yesterday without issue, app last updated Nov 6 and no updates pending. I attempted to fix this with the Exploit Protection compatibility mode, but it crashed regardless. Only fix seemed to be deleting cache & storage and logging back in. When I was in my vehicle, Android Auto would also see Apple Music crash in the background and attempt to restart.

My Pulsar music player did not have the same issue. Figured I'd share here, in case it is of note, as not sure if its directly related to the update or a side effect.
