Cons of only using exit nodes from my country with Orbot?

What are the cons of configuring Orbot to only use exit nodes that are in my country? I use Orbot as a replacement for VPN because I don't want to trust them and their no log policy.

Edit: I woud like to know what would be the cons if all three nodes would be in my country. Entry, middle and exit.

Leyiji Many exit nodes are known to be actively malicious. A significant proportion of exit nodes has targeted GrapheneOS users by blocking connections to our services in the recent past. You're relying on the choice of random route to provide anonymity rather than making things worse and you're making yourself a target by the exit node. It can see and modify all traffic that's passing through so you're heavily depending on everything you use having proper authenticated encryption. The main way exit nodes can still cause harm despite authenticated encryption is through censorship and we've seen that happening with releases.grapheneos.org and other important GrapheneOS services being blocked.

Modifying the way that Tor creates its circuits is strongly discouraged. You get the best security that Tor can provide when you leave the route selection to Tor; overriding the entry/exit nodes can compromise your anonymity. If the outcome you want is simply to be able to access resources that are only available in one country, you may want to consider using a VPN instead of using Tor. Please note that VPNs do not have the same privacy properties as Tor, but they will help solve some geolocation restriction issues.

MetropleX I don't need anonymity. I just want to use it instead of VPN to hide internet traffic from my ISP and hide my IP. Is my idea any worse than a VPN?

Leyiji for that purpose you should be fine.

GrapheneOS Does that mean that VPN is more secure? Assuming that provider is trusted. I want to use Orbot as a replacement for VPN. But if exit nodes can see and modify all my traffic then I think thats a serious security issue.
