FAFAU ok, do this check first. When rebooting, the first bootscreen can be paused by the top right icon. A bit below, there's supposed to be a long line of code which is the official GrapheneOS verified boot key hash.

For Pixel8, it is exactly this line:
cd7479653aa88208f9f03034810ef9b7b0af8a9d41e2000e458ac403a2acb233

Pause at reboot and check if the line is identical with the one i gave you.

If no sound is getting picked up in any of them, I suspect this might be faulty hardware.

After installing second app I can hear recorded audio but theres still issue - sometimes the audio is very distorted, almost like im on +10dB gain. Sometimes it's almost clear, almost because louder sounds are recorded as they should but quiet sounds are muffled or not present at all and the other way. Now I'm wondering if maybe really the hardware is shot (because last owner dropped the phone? idk). Then there's another questiom - why my voice is clear on voice calls?

Okay, I think I understand this - the problem is on the hardware side. Phone automatically switches to other mic when in voice call, because the main microphone is broken or not fully functional (audio from main mic is non existent). On first voice recorder app when I change the source of sound to "voice communication (auto gain)" which switches source to loudspeaker mic, from there I can record the audio without any issue. I bet i did that before reinstalling app and it did not work the first time. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. I think this thread can be closed as solved.

Thanks, I see that this mic is soldered to the board, unlike earlier models which were on flex cables, I'll try to find broken unit to salvage this part off of it.
