Switching from iPhone 15 Pro Max to Google Pixel 10 Pro XL

Hey guys!

With the current Black Friday sale in the Google Store + the Beta Access of GOS for the Google Pixel 10 series, I finally made the switch. I traded in my iPhone 15 Pro Max and got 699€ + 200€ black friday bonus for it. So I pay 400€ for my 265 GB Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Any tips or tricks and should look out for, while transitioning to Android? My last daily android was an Samsung Galaxy 8 😅
I also have MacBook Pro and multiple iPads but I don't use iCloud really. Photos are in self hosted Immich and files in a self hosted Cloudreve.

lalkek 10th series not supported yet by GrapheneOS, go for 9 Pro XL, differences are minimal. 6 years of support left. Oh, I see, experimental support available, still, like I said and you may get a better price if that's what you're after.

lalkek The best way to transition from iOS to Android I found was to use Google's migration tool after factory reset of the stock OS (needing a Google account and a USB cable). That brought over Whatsapp chats which otherwise couldn't be accessed, even if backed up to iCloud. Similar situations exist for other apps.

Once everything was on Android, save out settings (contacts, calendars, ...) from any app that can export them. Then back up the phone storage using the Files app (to USB or a network drive).

Install GOS which wipes the phone, then restore the files from your backup. You can then re-import settings from the files on your local storage. Whatsapp uses a folder on local storage so once you've logged in to the app you can copy the backup over the existing one and it'll restore your saved chats.

DeletedUser495 staging.grapheneos.org has 10 series support actually. I'm using it right now on my 10 Pro XL.

I'd definitelly go with the 10 Pro XL instead the 9 - GOS support is experimental, but coming very very soon.

I'm on a Pixel 7 with GOS now going on 2 years.

I have security updates until Oct 2027 but looking at upgrading. P9a on sale for BF at $180 off, which seems like a great deal at $499 CDN

This is what I paid on sale for my P7 a couple of years ago on BF 😂

Google is pushing their P10 lineup. Tempting but wonder how "experimental" we're talking about here.

I use profiles to split banking apps, private scope to run Android Auto.

Or I wait for the OEM hardware announcement in a year or so. If none by Oct 2027, then I guess I could snag a fully supported P10 on a BF sale at that point. 😎
