Update Lockout

I installed the OS update yesterday morning, unlocked my phone (fingerprint) and went about my day. Later on tried unlocking and it didn't register my fingerprint and prompted for my pin. I entered that and it said it was wrong. Tried a few more times until it time locked me. After few more attempts I restarted the phone, now it NEEDS the pin to unlock, I have tried every conceivable combination of my pin as well as some "default" ones to no avail, still sitting at a 5k second lockout. Really think the update wiped my pin (don't know why or how) but I can't figure it out. Can I get into the bios and rollback the update? If so how? Literally any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I had something similar with a 7 last year but with password instead of pin. When I would switch profiles back to main or after update, when the login screen appeared I would type my password and was prompted it was incorrect.

I noticed despite the login screen appearing, no text was appearing while I typed. There was no curser visible until I tapped where the password would appear, then I was able to login. This was intermittent with a couple updates but persisted with profile swaps, and then consistently resolved with the first GOS update for android 16.

For security reasons, no. You can probably wipe the user data partition via Recovery, but that's somewhat drastic, so you might want to try other things first.

When the phone boots, does it display a yellow "another operating system" screen, or a red "corrupt" screen?

I haven't had the phone that long, set up the pin less than a year ago 6-8 months maybe.

de0u yea, hoping I don't have to wipe it. It does display the yellow "other OS" goes through the google and graphene splash screen, to lock screen. Can I rollback the update somehow to test if that works?

For security reasons, no. If it were possible to do that, then an adversary in possession of the device (e.g., a thief) could roll the OS back to whichever version had the easiest exploitable bug.

No, you either need to give the correct pin or wipe the device in recovery, that's it.
