subwoofer That order of magnitude yes. We're deliberately growing slowly and not taking VC funding to keep our incentives aligned with users and give us time to solve the hard problems properly. The Android app was only released last April too, and didn't have sync until a few months later.

If you're worried about github interfering with the apk, you can download it directly from peergos. We publish releases here: https://peergos.net/public/peergos/releases By virtue of being in Peergos everything is signed (in this case by the "peergos" user) and verified on download (of course you are trusting our server to deliver a good client using that url). Or if you just want the sha256 hash of the apk I can get that for you?

tbh i think the android app is like not working correctly?

i dont know i got it yesterday and i wanted to sync my dcim folder. It is probably like 10gb.
And it is still not synced,

it feels like the app would just like shut itself down in the background and stop uploading..
until i like put it in the foreground myself again
(I already have it set to unrestricted battery usage)

Now it also says
" Previous error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Missing fragment: "

Something that large will take a while to sync on android, but it should continue to make progress. Do you see the files appearing in the peergos folder?

yes i can see the files and i also uploaded already like 6gb,

but now it seems to be stuck:

when i click sync now it reloads and is stuck again at 10,
and the cleanup failed uploads button did not help either

or should i just wait

I would just be patient for now. Android throttles a lot even with unrestricted battery usage.

Im sorry but honestly at appears to me that atleast on android or grapheneOs it is just not ready yet and i can not really recommend it to others

I have the app now for 4 days and my folder is still not synced. Not sure if i like should have just uploaded it and then sync.

Anyway it like does make almost no progress and 6 gb in 4 days, while appearing to time out or freeze, is just not really usable to me..

i know you are paying a lot of effort into this project and i can see that online.. but it appears sadly to be yet not that usable for backing up ones phone

I will try to just upload a folder maybe that works better

edit: nevermind it seems like i can not upload a folder, just a file ^^

i dont know, i think i am just going to use nextcloud or proton + cryptomator

dhhdjbd I agree the initial sync can be quite painful, but it works flawlessly after that. I use it on grapheneOS to sync my > 16GB photos folder. Thank you for this impetus to focus on the initial sync step. One other thing that might be affecting you is that it only sync on wifi, not data connection.

I've also started work on the android app folder upload (which only isn't there because the android webview doesn't support it).

In general the android app needs a lot more work, being the most recent addition. You will have a much better time with the web ui or the desktop apps for example. To work around the initial sync on your phone you could upload the folder using the website directly (where folder upload does work).

There is a new release now which fixes two issues I think you were hitting with the initial sync @dhhdjbd . 1) We weren't foregrounding the sync service correctly, so it would frequently get killed by android, and 2) the native crypto library wasn't being loaded correctly, so something that should have taken 200ms was taking 20s. I've also implemented folder upload in this android release.

okay so it did definitly work better and i uploaded more,
but for one i still have the issue that atleast two files just dont upload for some reason,
i dont know why,

i think it has something to do with this

(i also had the wrong version aswell before 1.16 i think, because i got it from the android git one...)
