Why do I have a SeedVault process and package?

Just out of curiosity: From the adb shell I see a process:

com.stevesoltys.seedvault

and 'pm list packages' shows a package with the same name. Yet there is no reference to SeedVault, so far as I can see, in the regular user interface. So far as I know, I'm not using it, although I guess it might be doing something quietly.

It's not a concern and, so far as I can tell, it's not using any resources. I'm just baffled about why it's there.

lars It's the backup system used by GrapheneOS: https://grapheneos.org/features#encrypted-backups

You can find it in Settings > System > Backup.

Thank you. When I do settings -> system -> backup, I'm asked whether I want to restore a backup, or create one. Since I want neither, I'm not sure why the process is running. Perhaps that's just a quirk of the way Android works?

I suspect it's not running very much. It might be checking periodically to see whether it has been configured yet.
