I still don’t understand why people make something simple so complicated. If you just take your banking card with you, you avoid all NFC problems. It works everywhere, it’s stable, and it doesn’t suddenly stop working because an app update breaks something. And even if one banking app works with NFC on GrapheneOS today, there is no guarantee it will still work tomorrow.
What worries me even more is the bigger picture. This push toward digitalization doesn’t feel like real progress - it feels like more control over people. Every new “convenient” digital tool creates more dependency, more technical problems, and more ways for systems to track or limit what people do. And then we are told we must simply accept these difficulties as the cost of modern life.
This is exactly why cash is important. The best option is still to go to an ATM, take out real money, and pay with cash everywhere. Cash may not be as convenient as a card, but it is still the last real form of personal freedom.
