no 5g Mint mobile ? always in LTE

Just curious to other mint mobile users out there, maybe even t-mobile. I've noticed around towards the end of September that my phone always just say LTE. Even if I put it in 5g only and I have done plenty of reboots. At first I thought maybe it was just maybe I'm being throttled down end of the month as I had 7 days left. But it still seems to be this way.
Just interested if anyone else is experiencing this

Twlight-Princess This happened to me recently. Was set to LTE for quite a while, decided to flip it to 5G and it wouldn't connect. Tried a few things...

airplane mode on/off
mobile network reset
removed SIM card (Mint), cleared SIM Toolkit cache, put SIM card back

None of that helped but a factory reset did fix it. I didn't mind the hassle because I had other reasons to start over.

Please try 5G (recommended) and/or enable Vo5G if you haven't already.

If you don't have Vo5G enabled or if the "5G" cell site is 5G NSA rather than 5G SA and as such can't support Vo5G then voice is on 4G Calling (or 3G/2G) and it is no longer "5G only".

Same thing is happening to me as well at the end of September on my Pixel 9a on Mint Mobile. I haven't tried the factory reset yet. If others have an easier solution, I would appreciate it.

ralm I've only tried a reboot, Maybe I'll give somethings you tried a shot. Factory Reset right now is just not in my scope. lol I planning to to a clean install of windows on my desktop soon. I pushed that off for 2 years hahaha

wizoatk So I am normally on 5G recommended. I only switch to 5G only and 5G or LTE only just too see if something would change. I am wondering if it has to do with that VoLTE option I see now I don't remember that.
Where would I find VO5g option ? and check if its NSA rather then SA

I got AT&T through U.S. mobile on 2 phones 1 is a 7 Pro, I usually use LTE. Had for 3 months. over last few days I wanted to put it to 5G every time I touch 5G it just stays in LTE, last night it would go to 5G+ for either 30 seconds or 1 minute THEN Right back to LTE, today I have it set to 5G(Recommended) & I haven't saw a 5G on top of screen yet only LTE. I have same AT&T from US mobile on the 6a & when I turn it to 5G it goes instantly to 5G on top of phone & it's had a 5G on top screen all day today & yesterday. WTF. Had Mint for 2 years I always had it in LTE so don't remember if I had 5G issues, but everything always worked on Mint.

JJ1992 Stange, there had to be some update that changed something. All this time before I was fine. I'm going to try turning off VoLTE and see if that changes anything.

Twlight-Princess While on LTE I switched from stable to beta channel as part of RCS trouble shooting efforts and the phone updated to 2025100901. Next day or so I changed preferred network to 5G (recommended) and it wasn't working, nor was any other 5G setting. Perhaps the update was involved or it was coincidence.

If you have a physical SIM card and decide to try what I tried, power off to remove the card. Power on with the card removed and locate SIM Toolkit in Settings/Apps. Clear its cache only. Power off, insert the card and power on. For an eSIM there's probably an equivalent test but I don't know the steps.

Grimlock I do not feel like or have time to do a factory reset. if I had more free time I'd give a shot.

AttemptUndertook I'm in the same boat I think I may end up just leaving it and see if a future update fixes this.

Ultimately, I think I'll just leave things as is because other then that things are working. Hopefully a future update will fix this.

I'm on Mint Mobile as well and have the same problem on 2 different phones: a Pixel 7 and a Pixel 9a. I've tried changing it to 5G only as well. It's been like this for about a month. It was 5G before and would rarely switch to LTE. I may try a factory reset

Grimlock Doing a factory reset resolved my LTE issue. I now have 5G. Not sure why/how this happened but that worked for me.

Maybe try "Reset mobile network settings"?
