WiFi instantly turns itself off

I recently bought a phone and installed GrapheneOS on it. When I first used it, I connected it to my local WiFi like normal. Since then though, WiFi is constantly turned off. If I try to turn it on through the menu at the top of the screen, the toggle switches to the "on" position, but no networks to connect to appear. If I go into the WiFi settings and toggle it on, the same thing happens, and if I leave WiFi settings and go back, the toggle is off. It seems like it it refusing to actually turn WiFi on.

I have tried rebooting and resetting the WiFi & Bluetooth settings several times.

interested_squirrel_3942 this might be due to the Turn off Wi-Fi automatically feature found in Settings > Security and privacy > Exploit protection > Turn off Wi-Fi automatically so I would check what it is set to.

Thanks, doesn't seem to be the issue though. I checked it and it's already set to "Never".

Is there anything else I can try? Only thing I can think of is full re-installation of the OS, but I worry that will just land me back in the same situation.

interested_squirrel_3942 Unfortunately the description seems consistent with the Wi-Fi hardware having a problem. Was the phone purchased new or used? How long did Wi-Fi appear to work ok?

Note that the 5a has reached end-of-life and suffers from multiple severe security vulnerabilities. The oldest device currently recommended by the GrapheneOS project is the Pixel 8 (source). The 7 series still has reasonable expected support life (source), but the 8 series has better hardware security and DisplayPort Alt mode.
