Pink line/Green glitching screen advice

I have a Pixel 8 with GOS installed. Eventually I get the classic pink line with green screen and glitching happening. I revert to stock OS and it no longer happens. I've tried this twice with the same results. Now I have an option to send the phone back for repair but is this a hardware or software fault? Surly if this was hardware, I would see this stock side too?

Xkwisit depends how thorough your testing was. Mine had that issue, but it was intermittent. I just took it to a local repair shop that replaced it through the Pixel 8 extended repair program. Didn't cost me anything and I was in and out in about 20 min

I just got Pixel 9 Pro to replace my 8 which had this problem. At some point the screen went totally green, I couldnt see anything. I pressed at the bottom of the screen to temporarily fix it. This has to be a hardware problem.

If I take the 8 to a shop, will they still fix the screen for free?

You'll want to search for qualifying repair shops in your area if you qualify. If you do, then yes it's free.

I've posted it now, so hopefully they do fix it and not just send it back stating no fault could be found. Ridiculous that it has to go to Poland and I live in the UK - should have chosen local repair :/

Xkwisit I've heard anecdotally that Google does a great job repairing them and doesn't usually ask questions/care. I've heard some even leaving GOS installed and shipping it out and Google repaired the display without caring. So, I wouldn't worry too much.

my pixel 9 pro got the pink line down screen last month. i had to reflash stock os since google needed to run diagnostics before, and after screen replacement. its worth noting that I got the repair done same day at a Google store. whole process took about 1 hour.
