Dear grapheneos team,

You have said in a mastodon message that you are expecting quallcom to implement MTE / hardware memory tagging in sbapdragon 8 elite gen 5 so that it meets your security requirement for your upcoming collaboration on a phone with an OEM that your are in talks with.

The chip is announced, I couldn't find on whether they implemented it. Can you please confirm if they did. And if they didn't, what will it mean for your planned collab on phone with an OEM, will that still happen?

goofafa Yes, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 implements MTE. We don't know if it works well yet. Our OEM partner is doing preliminary work on it.

A bit tangential, but I have been looking all over the place and not been able to find an answer, so I will ask here. Do you know if the Snapdragon X Elite line of SoCs support MTE, specifically the first generation (X1E80100, X1E78100, etc)? These are the SoCs in laptops and dev kits for the year or two ago.
