Persistent low screen on time

Hello, I bought an used pixel 8 in pristine condition with less than 400 cycles battery. Installed gos instantly 5-6 days ago. build number is 2025092700. 20 app on it inclueded wa ig and fb for work reason. the problem is that accordingly to accubattery the bh is more than 90% but I managed to get only 4h of sot in mixed wifi 5g (no matter how many app i cut from background running and data permission) 100% to ₁₀% checked on aosp battery info and on accubattery. I am a little bit disappointed also because i don't use play service no gps no roaming data background only for wa and signal. is this considered normal or what? cause this thing is drive me crazy and i hardly think that this would be the same if not worst on stock os. screenshot

I would say that SoT is pretty much normal, considering how run down the battery is. The 90% is probably a good estimate; I would put it closer to 80% from experience. Phone batteries are usually designed for around 500 cycles, so yours is pretty run down already. The Pixel 8 never had that great battery life to begin with either.

And yes, it would probably be very similar on Stock PixelOS.

Keep in mine that apps like Signal or WhatsApp (unsure about the latter) will cause additional drainage due to their separate, inefficient connections to a WebSocket for notifications compared to Google Play's push notification system.

so installing gplay would reduce drainage of notification of those app or they work just with owns system ? so even if i change the battery and gain the 20% loss in bh it would convert in a 20% of battery life (accordingly to some research) that should be less than 1h of sot = less than 5h of sot wich is far from acceptable for me considering saw over 6-7 even 8h with pretty much the same app and in some case even heavier work

How much less cycles are this? One cycle is 0-100 percent charge, so for example in a year with moderate use you should be around 150 full cycles or even less, considering most people never let their phone get below 20-30 percent.

However, the time or screen time in battery statistics is never truly accurate, but what you got is not normal behavior I guess. Unless you are using the phone in bright sunlight or constantly use 100% screen brightness, you should get between 8-10 hours of usage.

Most power is drawn by the screen brightness and more than 60hz screen rate. Also 5g increases battery consumption up to 30%. If you have lots of downloading like shown in your screenshots like YouTube and Instagram, LTE is probably a better choice and will draw less energy.

I post the cycles count shown in the aosp settings
even if set at 120hz the screen in the aosp baattery info in system it eats about a fraction of data and wifi like 1/5.

giovan97 you can always test that out. The default Signal app is known to be very inefficient and thus Molly (FOSS) is the general recommendation as a Signal client. You can't really do much about WhatsApp though. I'd try installing Play Services if I were you, just to see if that will fix things. Keep in mind that you will have to reinstall WhatsApp and Signal for it to work, so make a backup of both app's data first!

even if they are inefficient it drain just 2-3% accordingly to battery test.Anyway I will try, thank you. you think that a battery change with an original new one (will costs to me 60$) can give me a couple of hour i will do it otherwise i will stick with this one cause i pay under 200$ in 256gb configuration and save up for the future (next year) when i will graduate and work

giovan97 just see how it goes. I can't promise a battery replacement is going to give you hours more of screen on time. But it will probably increase it by some amount. I'd rather try optimizing software than going straight at hardware at this point in time.
