I have encountered a reproducible bug with GrapheneOS that I would like to report. So far, I have tested it only on a Pixel 8a, but I will run further tests on other Pixel devices soon.
Here is the issue:
- When the phone is running GrapheneOS and is restarted normally, it boots perfectly.
- However, if the battery is completely drained to 0% and the phone powers off, plugging it into a charger to turn it on causes a problem.
- The phone shows the Google logo and then the GrapheneOS boot logo, vibrates, and then powers off again.
- This loop continues and the device will not boot normally.
(i saw many other users signal these kind of bugs in past threads but i didn't find a definitive fix)
The only way to recover is to manually enter the bootloader mode, leave the phone charging there until it reaches at least 2–3%, and then start the system. After doing this, the phone boots correctly.
Important details:
- This issue occurs only with GrapheneOS. The stock Google OS does not have this problem.
- The bug is reproducible: I have wiped and reinstalled both the stock OS and GrapheneOS multiple times. The problem only appears when running GrapheneOS.
Please let me know if there is any additional information, logs, or specific steps I can provide to help debug this issue.
