Is there a good caldav self-sufficient Calendar app on Graphene?

I use Etar with DAVx5 and it works very seemless and stable. But you need an endpoint to sync to.

davx is honestly the only real way to go, except if you want it local only. Similar to the other guys here, I use davx with my nextcloud instance to sync contacts and calenar, and the fossify calendar app on the phone.

traveller I have https://github.com/39aldo39/DecSyncCC on the list to try (or check it's forks for any alive), but it's not actively maintained though may still work. If you check it, can you please post your feedback?

File-based sync was requested in DAVx5 but not a priority.
And knowing how "experimental"/painful is file-based sync (duplicates etc) in adjacent domains (OpenContacts, Quillpad, etc.) I wouldn't rely on things to improve.

Though I will be grateful if you recommend one that is working and is not an abandonware!

I get the impression that your request is based on a lack of understanding about what DAVx⁵ actually is.

1) DAVx⁵ is NOT a "service".
2) DAVx⁵ is SOFTWARE, which synchronizes your Android contacts and calendar databases with YOUR CHOICE of ANY CalDAV/CardDAV service (most people use it with Nextcloud, some with Google, others with other services). It connects to your service DIRECTLY, it does NOT go through any 3rd party service providers.
3) DAVx⁵ is OPEN SOURCE https://github.com/bitfireAT/davx5-ose/ -- if you don't trust whoever compiled it, feel free to audit the code and build it yourself.

secrec No, there is an app OpenContacts that does exactly that - it keeps it's own scope of contacts, separate from the "standard"/system. So even on non-gos device w/o contact scopes, you can keep your contacts invisible to the host system, synced with carddav services like radicale etc. It integrates with the dialer so you can see incoming call ID, and it works with Whatsapp, so you can initiate msg session with the number from your OpenContacts.
Though I haven't found the same for CalDAV yet.

secrec thanks for your reply. By "service" I mean a system-wide background application that other apps have access to. What I meant is that I did not want to synchronize my whole system with the caldav, but rather only a single app, like what Tasks does.

BeepBeep thanks for the suggestion. Are those Proton apps opensource though? Can we make sure they do not upload any of the data to their servers?

FWIW, Proton's recent (days, not weeks) update to their Android calendar app now works offline (finally), with cross device syncing without Davx. They have a Free account tier, with some operating limitations. Their Mail app syncs contacts across devices without Davx, but their contacts list doesn't cross populate or sync with AOSP's onboard Contacts app, so you can't use Proton's contacts list with another mail app/service, and AOSP's Phone app won't show caller ID unless you manually duplicate contact entries in AOSP's Contacts app. There's no Proton Tasks app, yet, but it's on their road map.

That isn't how it works. If any "other apps" want access to your calendar, they will ONLY access the system calendar. Nothing else.

phone-company I use this and have been happy with it so far. I also use etasync as it keeps contacts tasks etc sync across GOS profiles and various devices.

I have been using etar for over a yr and it works well for calendar and in combo with etcsync and have been happy with it. Not sure if it fills all your needs though.
