Desktop mode navbar access

I know that for full desktop mode, we're waiting on AOSP. However, in the mean time, what's the likelihood we can get the navbar visible? Since I think the QPR1 Beta 2 release, in addition to the usual floating app drawer, there's an invisible navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. You can still click it and interact with it, but it's not usable in this state. Is that something GrapheneOS could fix? How could we determine if this is a GrapheneOS problem or an upstream problem to begin with?

Previously the acid test would have been to build AOSP from source and flash it onto a device. But recently Google decided to remove Pixel support from AOSP.

Probably the next best way to tell would be to experiment with a device running Google's Pixel OS.

Meanwhile, I don't think the GrapheneOS project has made any changes to the desktop menu bar code, so it seems somewhat unlikely that they made some negative change.
