Play store version indicate apkmirror.com

Hello, I am 1week old in this wonderful system and trying to understand the bits and pieces. I am puzzeled by one thing which I can't seem to find an answer to through forum.

I am logged on Google account, and everything works peachy:)

Play store version in both pixel 9 and tablet is 47.7.19-31[0][PR]798294419. Now googling this leads to apkmirror.com, not to googles play store. And several graphene threads says apkmirror.com is another source of download. Is this normal and graphene uses apkmirror as download source for the installed play store?

If you google any version of the play store, one of the first results will be apkmirror. This does not mean that it was sourced from there. Apkmirror simply mirrors apks, and keeps old versions. The play store is not directly available from Google (as in, they don't host a user facing page to download it). If you followed instructions correctly, the version you have installed comes from the GrapheneOS "AppStore" app. As far as I know, GrapheneOS sources the apk from Google's server, and keeps a mirror on theirs.

OK thank you, I was just puzzled by the responses I got while googling, google says it doesn't use apkmirror.com while all 3 unites I installed this week has the above mentioned string as play store version under google play setting/about/. I installed 2 9XL and 1 tablet as I departed apple due to visible cloning.

That's why I asked if graphene uses this string. There are posts in this forum that says graphene does not use apkmirror as default download for apps

Just a bump so in know if I can trust downloaded apps!

Been under attack for 4 months in iOS so I threw away 15k$ worth of apple hardware.

Graphene was installed basically without any modification straight forward and I am installing suggested update by Grapheme OS.

Installed boxed google play store from graphene app store and i was updated once after installing the system On all 3 pixel unites.
Google play store version in both pixel 9 and tablet is now

47.7.19-31[0][PR]798294419.

Could you confirm this is accurate actual version?

No, Google Play and Play Services in App Store are not from third party websites like apkmirror. They are from Google directly.
The only way to install Google services and Google Play is to install from App Store. GrapheneOS has disabled installing Google using downloaded apk afaik so there's no need to verify the version. You can give it a try.
