Apple kept me safe for years and their encryption kept me safe when the wolves were at my door, nobody could break in to my iPhone, however the almond of data apps harvest these days it doesn’t sit right with me. Graphene takes some getting used to but I’ve had enough of my privacy being violated, in recent times updates there’s a new opt out feature in Apple, places of interest in privacy it’s a setting that’s enabled by detail and it’s a snoopers dream come true, it auto logs many of the places you visit via gps and stores them in a log for anyone who hi wants to gain access to your phone to be able to track where you have been, it’s funny how Apple didn’t advertise this feature or let you know its opt out, so it gets enabled after updates and many people are walking around and their locations are being logged and that alone doesn’t sit right with me. Neither does all the data harvesting, I watch at a network level what dns requests are trying to snoop on my phone and it’s crazy how many I’ve blocked and show in the logs.
I’ve put if transferring my phone stuff to GOS as I’m lazy and privacy isn’t easy lazy people, forever I’m lazy because I’m sick and have little attention span and energy to spare these days from long covid. But I’m going to have to pace myself and get it done. I don’t want AI in my phone but with Apple I have it. My plan is to transfer my data, keep one Apple device for storing emails I can’t transfer as Mac email addresses can’t easily be used on android as far as I’m aware, there are apps but they fail to login to Apple accounts on android in my experience. Everything else is coming over to graphene and the iPhones getting sold.
Back in college I was hacked and the hacker contacted me and told me to check my online account and I couldn’t I was locked out, I was determined to be more privacy and security aware.
I can do most things on graphene os but I don’t feel safe putting a sim in my device
