The Google Pixel (7 Pro in my case) offers a variety of (AI) tools for its camera. I would definitely get the Google Camera and Google Photos on GOS - but what are the tools that still won't work on GOS?
The same functionality is available in the same apps. You can use Pixel Camera and Google Photos if you want what they provide. Nearly all of it is local functionality other than Video Boost. You don't need to use their cloud features to use nearly all the functionality. Nearly all the AI tools in Google Photos and Pixel Camera are local. Some of the Google Photos functionality requires downloading models before it can be used since it's not all shipped with the app.
GrapheneOS Camera has support for HDR+ for photos, Night Sight, HDRnet for videos/preview, active Electronic Image Stabilization, automatic macro mode, automatically switching to ultrawide/telephoto cameras, etc. It doesn't support everything Pixel Camera does for basic or advanced functionality. For example, it doesn't yet support non-active EIS which is useful since active EIS doesn't support 4k, it doesn't yet have other video/image formats, a Pro mode (exclusive to Pro devices for Pixel Camera), Portrait mode on Pixels and a bunch of other things. If you want those features, you can use Pixel Camera. Pixel Camera also has more aggressive HDR+ by default, but it's similar and Night mode is more similar than the regular photo mode using regular HDR+.
There's nothing missing if you want to use all of this functionality on GrapheneOS. It's available in the apps providing it.
As far as I know, it's those that need to send the image/video to Google servers to process them. Which ones are the ones that won't work?
Video Boost is one of the only features requiring this. Some of the features need to download AI models but do function locally.
