Safety of a free open WiFi , gos + mulvad + kill switch?

I will have soon a situation where the only network I can use will be a open one that mass of people use. It has no password, just a agree on our terms page before connecting. Phone is always on airplane mode and always connecting via mulvad with vpn kill switch always on.

What should be avoided, or what is the real threat in this situations? What are privacy and security concerns?

As far as I know the threat from public wifis is very low, especially if you use a VPN and only connect to https services (what you should do anyway)

Not much i guess, make sure mac randomization is in use (default). I myself would in that situation disable WiFi-calling before connecting to the network, if u make use of WiFi-calling.

Anon74 Well https is not available for some sites i use. But they are considered safe to use. If I understand correctly if it is not https the traffic is not encrypted and my traffic is visible

user539 If you already use a VPN, all a potential attacker on the public WiFi can see is the encrypted traffic to your VPN provider, no matter whether the website you're connecting to has HTTPS or not.
You should still use HTTPS wherever possible, so the connection between the VPN server and the site you're connecting to is encrypted as well. But that's the same when you're using a more trustworthy network like your home WiFi.
