Why is it labelled simtoolkit sometimes and sometimes Telus menu?

Ejd186 I would expect it to take on the Telus label when a Telus SIM is present and active, and would not be surprised for it to lose that name (and become invisible) otherwise.

de0u there's always a Telus esim present. Esim support is never not toggled on.

It really is random. It appears (under either label) about half the time after a reboot, and always hangs out for anywhere between 5-20 minutes before disappearing from my list of apps on the home screen.

Any ideas why?

Could it be that the app becomes active and is visible while the operator is interacting with it? From what I read, a carrier can program the sim card in a way of providing different services directly without the need for a separate specific carrier application.

neotux maybe i just don't understand what you mean. do you mean this app, which is obviously tied to the esim, only appears when booting? i just don't understand what makes it appear as an app. i can open it while it's still visible and it leads to a menu that displays whether my caller id is visible or not based on values 0-5. i've seen it display as both 0 and 5 even tho i haven't changed whether my caller id is displayed or not.
