Why is my location reception so bad

JohnWeak Since GrapheneOS's network location feature came out, I've not had these problems. I'd suggest disabling the Google one, enable rerouting location to the OS, and see if it works better that way. Instructions are here: https://grapheneos.org/usage#network-location

other8026 ok, I was able to run a few tests, the location refreshes faster but it still has awful precision, my location jumps in different places all of the time

I have set (on a Pixel 9) in settings under location: location services (wifi search and bluetooth search off, network location apple server, geocoder grapheneos proxy), SUPL GrapheneOS proxy, PSDS GrapheneOS server

With these settings it works for me in organic maps, pretty fast and accurate.
The thing with the arrow seems to be a thing of organic maps, but it disappeared after a while, i guess it needs to connect with satellites for a moment, whilst the other settings help to determine your current location faster.

If the arrow points in the opposite direction, just wave your phone around like painting an 8 for a moment and then it recalibrates.

MineralWater Wi-Fi scanning should be enabled if you're using network location unless you want it to fall back to only using cellular towers when Wi-Fi is otherwise off.

The 8 calibration pattern helped a lot. Totally forgot about that one. Location seems fine right now, at least on my balcony. Will keep an eye on it the coming days

JohnWeak You've misconfigured it. You should never have PSDS disabled and should not be disabling rerouting location requests either. PSDS is pretty essential and expected to be enabled. It only downloads a static database so there should be no reason to disable it.

GrapheneOS has exactly the same satellite-based location functionality/performance as the stock OS. The stock OS prompts users to enable it network location in the initial setup wizard, which you haven't done on GrapheneOS. Enable Wi-Fi scanning and Network location in Location services if you want location detection based on Wi-Fi and cellular.

Do not turn off PSDS or SUPL if you want things to work as well as they do on the stock OS. SUPL is barely useful if you have both PSDS and network location enabled, but it's always used by the stock OS so if you want it to work like the stock OS then leave it on.

ok update for anyone that would stumble on this post, I am sending back my google pixel because even after a factory reset my gps wouldn't work, I used google's diagnostic tool and it failed the gps test
