SMS/phone app alternatives?

Hi,

Anyone good alternative for sms and phone app?

Default one is really horrible for me and UI looks ugly.

AliCoil textra for sms. Other than that.. it's probably down to the personal preferences.

Oh, and chances are (I didn't test it), that non-standard phone app will NOT ring after reboot, BFU. Standard one rings.

Fossify apps exist, but they take time to launch and don't look very consistent with the rest of the system.
Apps from lineage os are great, but you have to change their package names so they don't conflict

Not one of my Fossify apps have taken longer than 0.5-1 second to open.

I use both Simple SMS and QUIK. I seem to always go back to QUIK because I think it handles MMS attachments better.

It's easy to grab them from existing lineage install, could even be a vm or something like waydroid if they keep arm libraries.
But the package name will be the same as the graphene apps, so it won't let you install them. So the only way is getting their source code, changing the package name and compiling them.

It's a hassle, but I like them more than fossify apps because they are faster and look consistent with the rest of the os.

Thank you so much for the explanation! I have never done anything in the way of compiling Android apps so that's something that I'll hopefully find the time to learn.

It's something you only ready have to do once, or once a year, unless they find a security bug that they fix.

And some of the apps, which are their custom ones made from scratch, can even be installed without changing the package name, like the gallery app, or their music app.
