This is a post about O365 apps and Duo Push 2FA. I use Shelter to utilize the work profile. However, on GrapheneOS, this means that I have Google Play Services running on the main profile and a separate Google Play Services running on the Work profile (as well as two Google Play Stores).
This seems like duplicative resource usage, or at least inelegant, so does anyone else have any tips?
What I have discovered:
- Outlook and Teams will give you error messages that they don't work without Play Services, but they more or less do (without push notifs).
- Duo Push has no push notifications without Play Services (expected)
- You can merely install Google Play Store on the Work Profile, without ever opening it or logging in, and that satisfies the apps.
- Outlook O365 requires Device Administrator status (corporate IT can remotely wipe your phone, etc). You can use Outlook Lite instead.
- Without the Play Store logged in, you can install via Shelter or Aurora Store; for updates I use the Aurora store on the work profile.
However, if anyone has a better setup - besides "demand a work phone" (I've tried) - I'm all ears.
