if ive seen a weird sms that immediately disappeared.. what are the chances that my phone has been hacked?

Receiving a silent SMS is not a good indicator of being targeted by your cell carrier, police or government because anyone on the cell network can send them including yourself. Cellular triangulation will happen regardless of whether or not SMS texts are being sent or received by the phone. Even if an SMS did serve a useful purpose for tracking, a silent SMS would be little different than receiving unsolicited spam. In fact, sending spam would be stealthier since it wouldn't trigger alerts for silent SMS but rather would be ignored with the rest of the spam. Regardless, sending texts or other data is not required or particularly useful to track devices connected to a network for an adversary with the appropriate access.

Airplane mode is the only way to avoid the cellular network tracking your device and works correctly on the devices we support.

was it a class 0 message?, like a pop up on your screen unannounced!
I had them from my carrier announcing what I have left on my PAYG multi network sim after I make calls.
they are easy to stop, just ask your carrier.
or you must have an app that has this enabled.

Check if sms appear in archive\blocked sms, same times "notification leak" when sms should be blocked.

Also, this behavior could be IOA (indicate of attack) for infection by state spyware. Israel police old spyware C&C performed via sms.

Sincerely, I do not see the point of this thread? There are simply too many variables to diagnose what it could have been and it certainly does not help how little information you have shared, even basic things like phone model.

Quick & dirty - if you are concerned, backup and factory reset your phone. Or reflash GOS entirely.

I understand that you not enough informed about Israel spyware action frames. but keep conversation in a pleasant manner.
I'm live in field of Israeli cyber and state terror for last 30 years, as one of the kids from "NSO kids unit", internal source of Pegasus investigation and the investigator by Calcalist, and a target for Israeli cyber-state terrorism for my entire life.

I'm hold at the moment two GrapheneOS devices hacked by those tools.
