LinPhone new 32-bit warning

I have automatic updates installed. Recently LinPhone updated and now I get warnings about 32-bit code. GOS has given these warnings for a while for other Apps and LinPhone previously did not do this, making me worried it did use 64-bit code and this is an attack. Is this a valid concern and what proper steps should I take?

Where did you get your LinPhone update from?
Recent version 6.0.16 (Aug-25) on GPlay - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.linphone
And the same version as a standalone APK on https://download.linphone.org/releases/android/

I use the standalone APK (updated by Obtainium) and have no such warnings.

It seems highly unlikely for an App to go from 64 to 32. I wonder if it's a targeted attack or error.

I could delete it and reinstall it. But also, I am surprised this is occurring and it may be a good idea to save whatever was installed for analysis in case this is an attack.

Can someone please onstall linphone in a new profile and see if they also get a 32-bit error?

Hardened malloc will not woek on this version and I had definitely gotten previous error messages when calls resulted in hardened malloc errors. I can't belive linphone went to 32 bit and think this may be a targeted attack.

This is the fdroid version. Gos devs kept saying fdroid had risks. I didn't understand it but pleass someone test for me.

Meatheadmarty you should probably post the exact warning here (word for word), this will make troubleshooting a lot easier, since we can simply search for it in the code. Language doesn't matter, localization will be in the source code too.

Which fdroid version?

There are multiple versions on F-Droid. The most recent one (Version 6.0.16 (6000161) - Added on Aug 29, 2025) appears to be 32 bit only. There both 64 bit and 32 bit versions of Version 6.0.15 (6000153) - Added on Aug 17, 2025.

Otherwise directly on play store.

A 64 bit build for 6.0.16 has been added to F-Droid:
Version 6.0.16 (6000163) suggested Added on Sep 01, 2025

I suspect that will likely fix your problem/symptom.

wizoatk it partly did, bit now this "new" 64 bit version is missing certain codecs. I don't know if this is Linphone or Fdroid or what. It's concerning and i dont k ow if compiling myself would get this taken care of, although it would take so long.
