Toasty thus quote "rooted GOS is not GOS"
And vendor locked Android is not Android.
Users should have their choice to unlock their carrier, install apps from stores other than Google, and use their phones in ways that the developers may not like.
Some users want purity. But others want freedom. As long as users understand the risks and accept that they cannot get official support/warranty, then they can do whatever they like. They don't have to stop calling it GrapheneOS because it's rooted.
Accessibility is still a supported feature. Yes, Google makes it harder so users understand the risks (many apps abuse it) but it's still a legit use of a person's device.
Same with making an app Device Admin. It's a higher privilege that users may want to accept the risk.
Root is a different story because it actually must break the security model to achieve. But accessibility, device admin, and many other higher risk permissions, are supported by AOSP and are not going away.
